Possibly the worst experience of an estate agent we've ever had. Little to no communication. Try and charge you for items on check-out that were in the property when you moved in, 0 accountability for anything and the best part is they're being paid to do it. Not to mention the fact we had to sell most of our stuff when moving in as they screwed up the inventory check in to account for items that were there. With the demand in London for rentals, it's unfortunate that companies like this get to do next to nothing and make a business of it and actually charge landlords a fee to do absolutely nothing. Couldn't manage a piss-up in a brewery.... Read more

I've just completed a purchase with Portico and would highly recommend them to anyone else buying in the area. The team that I was in contact with (Bilal, Tommy and Kelsee) were excellent throughout the whole process - available, checking in with me regularly, chasing anything that was outstanding, they were great. Portico have assisted me with both a purchase and sale over the last few years, and I can only say good things about them. Portico offer excellent service at a fair price. Credit to Tommy who provided very good advice on my recent sale which resulted in a quick transaction at a price I was happy with. I rented with Portico Leyton for a couple of years. It was one of the worst companies I've had the displeasure of dealing with. It took 14 months for them to fix the sink, I was having to wash in the kitchen sink and only eventually came when I was in the process of getting my own plumber in to attend. Then they wanted to put the rent up 30% despite the area comparables being a lot lower and them literally doing zero improvements or anything to warrant such a high increase other than greed. After I left, I note that it was marketed at the price I suggest I would pay that they didn't agree to... Also, this was meant to be a fully furnished property when I moved in, but turns out they didn't bother to actually furnish and just gave me a chest of drawers and then said it's my responsibility with no help at all... I've rented for 20 years and am a decent tenant, but I was treated so abysmally by this company that I would really warn anyone to be careful when renting through them. Also, the landlord was actually a really good man and when I spoke to him he was also horrified how they were treating tenants, so it's not always just landlord - but agents that are so bad to tenants. Also during check out they wanted to charge me for spiders that moved in after I had vacated and took a month to return my deposit... Bring on the rental reform bill so companies like this can stop treating people so badly.... Read more

I sold my house using the Leyton office through Spenser & Tommy - and would highly recommend both. Naturally there were a few bumps during the selling process and these were dealt with effectively by Portico. I've bought and sold 5 houses and I received a 5 star service through the experience of Tommy & Spencer and a large nod needs to go to the support staff as I've not seen a back office that drives the sales process as effectively as they did...
