We appointed Chestertons after a personal recommendation from friends with whom they sold their property. We had already had a very negative experience with one of Islington's most famous Estate Agents (they know who they are!) and so terminated that contract and went to Scott and his team at Chestertons instead. It was a breath of fresh air with a totally managed service, excellent sales team and regular feedback and communication. It was the opposite approach to the previous agency and one which was successful at selling our house at asking- price. Guy found the perfect Buyer after many client viewings and their persistence and self-assurance maintained our confidence throughout the process (which is stressful enough anyway). Not once did Scott even consider reducing the price of our house as it had been priced properly in the first place, whereas the previous lot simply wanted to keep dropping the valuation until someone offered! I cannot recommend Chesterton enough! We have recently sold our house in Islington and once again they did a professional, efficient and on the whole a brilliant job. This is the third time we have used them to buy or sell a property. We dealt with Piers who was amazing throughout the process and we can't praise him enough. He kept us informed all the way through and had the patience and perserverance that the sale needed. At times it was not entirely straight forward and I can truly say I am not sure it would have happened this quick with any other agent. Although the commission was higher than the other estate agents, we felt we were in safe hands. The market was quiet so took a bit longer to sell than normal. We had regular viewings throughout this period and with the introduction of Roberto, we got our sale. Roberto is a great communicator and kept us well informed throughout our viewings and the all important sale. He assisted in the negotiation with a buyer, advising on what was feasible/realistic and we secured a great sale price on condition we didn't go to market. I have had the most pleasant and efficient letting experience thanks to Jamie’s professionalism and client centricity. My initial request was difficult to handle given that i was looking for a short term rental within a 30 minutes radius from Angel station and I am a foreign student. Jamie managed these constraints in a very professional manner and offered me a perfectly suitable solution. I asked Chestertons to value my house in Barnsbury last Autumn 2023 and give me their views generally on the Islington property market - but not intending to sell until 2024. Scott arrived on my doorstep and gave me an irresistibly energetic, knowledgeable (he’s worked in the area for ca 16 years) and persuasive account of his and his firm’s expertise & experience. There followed a whirlwind of activity with his delightful sales team efficiently setting up a WhatsApp group and notifying me of viewings and offers all done with great good humour. The behaviour of this estate agent and the landlords they represent made me leave London after only two years. I know our housing market is broken, but that doesn't excuse the shameless chasing of rent rises and profiteering for the sake of 'the market rate'. In the end, this simply chases people out the buildings that we renters dare to call our homes.
