They overvalued the property in order to substantiate the 2.5% commission, then immediately dropped the price. They didn’t sell the property.

If you are working on auction, be careful if someone work with seller to get your deposit.
I worked with Ahmed Ali, on foxton side, and bidx1, so not cool. I am also using their solicitor, completely in big trouble now which they created.
be careful scammers--
1. Misrepresentation of Property: The seller or their agent may have misrepresented the property's condition, value, or ownership status to entice you to put down a deposit. This could involve false claims about the property's amenities, potential for development, or rental income.
2.Failure to Provide Legal Documentation: Deliberately withholding essential legal documents, such as title deeds, property searches, or planning permissions, needed for your mortgage application could be part of a scam to prevent you from completing the purchase or securing financing.
3.Deposit Fraud: If you suspect that the agency has intentionally misled you to secure your deposit without intending to fulfill their obligations, it could be a form of deposit fraud. This might involve promising features or benefits of the property that do not exist or fabricating urgency to push you into making a deposit.
4.Collusion between Seller and Solicitor: In some cases, there could be collusion between the seller and their solicitor to withhold vital information or documents needed for the transaction. This could be part of a larger scheme to defraud buyers or extract additional funds.

I had contact with Martin from Foxtons Wimbledon, and he was simply amazing. Super reactive, he understood perfectly what I was looking for and suggested properties that met my criteria. He was quick to respond, arrange viewings, and follow up on any queries I had. Very professional, responsive, and understanding all at once. After having contacts with a bunch of agents that ended up being literally a waste of my time, I started growing kind of skeptical about what I could expect from an agent. I must say I was surprisingly overjoyed with Martin's assistance and have since shifted my opinion about the quality of service I can expect from an agent. I have worked in partnership with Foxtons before so I hoped to use the connection to make the process run as smoothly as possible. Staff changes - a frequent thing at Foxtons - affected this somewhat adversely.

I have recently sold my flat through Foxtons Auctions and the whole process has been streamlined and professional. The were transparent and open about discussions and feedback from the outset.
I received a telephone call almost daily giving me an update on the viewings of the previous day and the feedback provided by interested parties. The online platform is easy to use and you can keep up to date with feedback and potential viewings.
The service I received was not corporate in fashion; it felt bespoke, and I often joked with the team that it very much felt the whole of Foxtons was working solely for my flat.
I thank the whole team, but a special thank you to Anne, Antony, Bronwyn, Kieran and Mohsen.
There are many estate agents across the Marylebone and Mayfair area; if it is a personal and bespoke service you require, then I strongly recommend Foxtons.
