30th Apr 2026 (24 days ago)From our first contact, to arrange a viewing of the property which we purchased and throughout the protracted process of negotiating and agreeing terms, we were impressed with the manner and professionalism demonstrated by Chris Moffatt. Without his sound advice and considerable assistance, the entire transaction might have foundered - to the detriment of all parties - and his efforts even continued after completion to ensure a satisfactory outcome. Chris was ably supported throughout by Jasmine Emmerson and we would not hesitate to recommend Reeds Rains to anyone looking to sell their property - although we hope it will be a long time before we require your services as we love the new home which your staff helped us to secure.

11th May 2026 (13 days ago)We chose this agent because we were told there was strong demand for houses in our area and buyers were actively asking about properties nearby. That sounded promising. The reality was the complete opposite. The second the £295 upfront payment was taken and the contract was signed, the service dropped off a cliff. Communication became painfully slow. It took idk how many weeks to arrange photography, and when the photos finally arrived they looked rushed and low quality. We asked for corrections, but instead of replacing the bad photos they simply uploaded even more. The floorplan was also incorrect, and despite us repeatedly asking for it to be corrected, they never fixed it. This is an area where houses rarely even come onto the market, and when they do, they normally attract serious attention quickly. Despite that, we had around 10 viewings across months with little meaningful progress, guidance, or feedback. What frustrated us most was the feeling that the priority was securing the upfront fee and contract, not selling the property. Even after withdrawing the property, we remain tied into commission clauses until July 2026, meaning the contract states commission may still be payable if the property sells during that period, even through another agent. For a company that struggled to market the property properly, they seemed incredibly efficient at marketing the £295 upfront fee. Overall: - poor communication - incorrect floorplans - low quality photography - delays throughout - weak follow-up - heavy focus on contracts and fees I already know the response will be something like: “Sorry to hear about your experience and the inconvenience caused. Please contact our customer relations team so we can address your concerns directly.” Trust me, the concerns were already raised plenty of times during the actual contract. Would not recommend.

From our first viewing to making our offer exchanging and completing on our purchase in under 7 weeks we have been astounded at how easy the buying process was with Marsh & Marsh and how invested the team were by communicating with the vendors and solicitors to keep the sale progressing. If ever the time comes I know who I will be listing and working with. Thank you team, excellent service!

James and his team are very professional, very personable and very knowledgeable. Communication was excellent: they kept us up to date at every stage. I would highly recommend Hunters. They know their stuff!

18th Mar 2024 (2 years ago)DO NOT SELL YOUR BUSINESS THROUGH THIS COMPANY! READ THE SMALL PRINT This company are extremely aggressive and unprofessional. We advertised a business with them, paid an huge fee to advertise. Later after terminating, we agreed investment (not even a sale) from an investor we met directly, who was never introduced by Hilton Smythe. After accepting investment after terminating with Hilton Smythe they demanded their commission!! Totally unreasonable given it was after termination and the person who invested in our business was never known to or introduced by Hilton Smythe! They are now behaving aggressively and threatening legal action. We in turn have reported them to the ombudsman and trading standards. They are snake oil salesmen. DO NOT DEAL!

What really stood out to us is that Harvey is a man of his word. If he says he’ll call you back, he does at exactly the time he promises. That level of reliability is rare and incredibly appreciated. He consistently goes out of his way to support us in our search, always making us feel like a priority. We especially value his honesty. If he’s unsure about something, he’ll say so then take the time to find the correct information and come back to us. There’s no guesswork, no hard sales tactics, and absolutely no “flip flop” answers just straightforward, trustworthy advice. The York branch is very lucky to have him. Our only wish is that we could have Harvey as our agent across all Reeds Rains branches instead of having to change agents!
